Yet Another Answer to “Where am I?”

چکیده
Computers and networks are becoming ubiquitous. The number of smart and mobile devices is increasing rapidly. Users become more mobile and their contexts change often and frequently. Simultaneously, users expect their devices, the applications, and infrastructures to be “smart”, i.e., they should support them when being mobile. Therefore, context data has to be used. However, because of the rapidly changing contexts and the underlying heterogeneity, the proper context is hard to find and to use. We propose a model for accessing context in a uniform and simple way across system boundaries and introduce context cells which provide an important schema for federating different contexts into a whole uniformly accessible system designed for mobile systems, as well as infrastructures supporting mobility.

متن کاملComment: Complex Causal Questions Require Careful Model Formulation: Discussion of Rubin on Experiments with ``Censoring'' Due to Death
I am very pleased to be able to offer some reactions to yet another masterful paper by Rubin on the topic of causal inference. It is a special honor to do so because the paper was initially presented at Carnegie Mellon University as the 2005 Morris H. DeGroot Memorial Lecture and I was in the audience. “Morrie” DeGroot was my colleague, collaborator and close friend. He always raised questions ...

This paper will give an in-depth discussion of Jesus’ expression “I am Alpha and Omega” (Apocalypse of John = Revelation 1.8) and its influence on the Manichaean writings, on the one hand, and the reason for the division of Mani’s Living Gospel into twenty-two chapters, corresponding to the twenty-two letters of the Manichaean alphabet, on the other. The pape...
متن کاملHow I Put the Horse before Descartes: an Autobiographical Fragment
Even as a child, I recall wondering why ''humane" societies and animal "shelters" spent IOC>St of their time and effort "putting to sleep" healthy dogs and cats. The official "for their own good" response (what a friend of mine nastily labels "preventive death") didnt.t make a great deal of sense to me, and so I -shrugged it off, figuring that this was yet another mystery which would be resolve...
متن کاملNonfactualism about Epistemic Modality
When I tell you that it’s raining, I describe a way the world is—viz., rainy. I say something factual, something whose truth turns on how things are with some aspect of the world. Likewise when I tell you that the weatherman thinks that it’s raining. Here the truth of what I say turns on a different feature of the world, namely, the weatherman’s state of mind. Likewise when I tell you that I th...
